Next level 6710/6010 V. Black with DC/WB
« on: September 03, 2015, 01:28:13 PM »
I hate printing these shirts, and it seems like we get asked to do them so much.

Has anyone had any luck using discharge or WB inks on these? THEY NEVER WORK FOR US

We ran 6010 Black with White DC yesterday.  Looked perfect for the art, med-light distress look, softer white was able to hold more of the super fine detail in the art file v. plasti.  Something we mocked up for and ran by the client in advance.   Next level 6010, 6210, etc. in Black isn't a go for getting an opaque, solid DC print though.

we just spent two days trying to get a 7 color (very simple/blocky art), to look right. No go. plastisol it is.

What about the 6210? specifically the black( we have discharged the heathered colors -not a problem).
i have a client trying to move a 7000 piece order our way and claiming the last printer was able to discharge these....im hesitant to say the least..
Wondering about hsa or straight waterbased whites for this garment?

6210 black will not discharge to a bright white, the black poly is the killer, if the customer is ok with a vintage look then your good to go.

I just spent all damn day with the 6210's! Ended up having to use 3 HSA whites>:( I am soooooooooooooooooooooooo pissed I didn't try to steer them towards the 3600!

If your customer said their last printer was able to discharge them, FIND OUT WHAT THEY DID!!!!

60/40 is the devils fabric.

The heathers discharge nicely though, the solids do not.

I love many of the the 6210 heathers for discharging, I feel like the polycotton crews (65poly/35cotton) are the worst.  I don't offer them unless specifically asked for.

We've been having similar problems, I've been converting all of our 6210 solid black projects over to the 3600.  6210s are a great shirt in their heathered colors, that shirt is becoming our new Gildan #2000.  Customers come in the door requesting it.  But when it comes to solid black, we're moving all current customers over to their #3600.

I LOVE the Next Level 3600... as well as the Canvas 3001..

I push those any chance I get.. they print nice, they discharge great, and they feel great to wear.

So we tested the 6210 in black ,

underbase and overprint screens on 200 mesh

1. discharge clear only - definitely a reaction - turned to a cool grey 7 or 8..
2. white discharge only - double stroke  - made a cool grey 2
3. clear under base - white on top - best results - still not as clean as a cotton shirt- and im not so sure its superior in anyway to two layers of plastisol.
Having said that we always have a difficult time with dye sub/ migration with these garments - even with a grey blocker we have had issues.
So im wondering if the discharge underbase affects the poly dye enough to place faith in this method..

We print HSA ink on these but limit the amount of colors to 4 colors since we only have a 8 color press.  A under base of magna Grey SL than Flash and followed by a white than flash and than usually 2 more colors flash and the last color since we only have a 8 station press.  Also its ideal to have a cool down station after each head.  Also we run lots of 2 to 3 colors high opacity one coat hsa for a vintage look  for some of our clients.

The key is the grey sublimation under base to fight the dye migration with HSA ink printing on these garments.  We add 25 cents per a color when we have to run HSA on these shirts plus a extra screen and print charge for the sublimation layer.
