I use to use a Intuos tablet, but I wanted to be able to draw on screen.  So being scared to drop the 2K on a Cintiq, I bought a Huion Tablet.  It is great, and cost about $600.  It is well worth the investment, if you want a cintiq alternative.  But you would never go wrong with a Wacom.

Have you had any issues with your Huion?

I keep reading about driver issues and hit or miss quality.

If it has gotten better, I would get one as well.

Used to have a Wacom tablet.  Loved it until an ex girlfriend walked away with it.
Been in the industry since 1996.  5+ years with QCM Inks.  Been a part of shops of all sizes and abilities both as a printer and as an Artist/separator.  I am now the Ink and Chemical Product Manager at Ryonet.

I have had no issues with Huion, I am having issues with Mac OSX El Captain. This latest version did something weird connecting a external monitor to your setup. I just use my huion with my laptop, and have had no problems.

I am using the Huion GT-185 with a swivel arm attachment. It has been great.

We bought our main artist a Wacom Cintiq screen, they are awesome. Draw straight on the screen.

I tried one, but since I can't really draw well, it got in the way. It is great for cutting objects out of photos for me though. I gave one to my wife, she hated it. I brought it into the office for our staff artist, she hates it. Both of them draw, paint and sculpt very well, so go figure. Try out a used one perhaps, or a smaller one, the 4 x 5, and go from there. I did give a good try, but since I'm management, and do very little actual art (I do the high end separations though) I just don't need it much.

Tried a low end one 10+ years ago. Just didn't feel natural enough for me. If I need real drawing, I'd rather draw on paper, scan, and rework (with a mouse) in Illy. But again, haven't tried anything newer/nicer, and haven't tried any "draw on the screen" tablet options.
Nice guys laugh last.

Can't go wrong with a Wacom.

My first one is still in use..15(?) years on.
Example pic attached, I dont have a camera handy.
I use it every single day at the shop. It's ugly and I love it.
I have a newer model on my own desk at home, it's not so ugly, I still love it.

Using a mouse as extensively as you need to while doing art
can do nasty things to your arm/hand over time.
A pen tablet, used properly, will not.

Not to mention, would you rather draw with a pen or a brick?

Take the time to learn one, and you'll never go back.

Cintiq here, they were only $900 from B&H (smaller size) and are well with it for artists.
