How to stop tape from sticking to garbage bags?
« on: July 18, 2017, 09:50:10 PM »
So we toss the tape and it will end up sticking to sides of the garbage bag and at times pretty much ruin the bag and we have to change out the whole thing with the can being barely full. It's like a spider web in there sometimes.

Would using a silicone spray stop that from happening? Any tips or tricks?

Use old magazines, catalogs or buy a few newspapers. Ball up the tape, wrap it in the paper and then discard. Takes a little more time, but you can get more life out of each garbage bag.

We have an old 5 gallon bucket that all tape goes into, once full we ball it up and put it into a garbage that is almost ready to be changed. The 5 gallon bucket is coated with all sorts of plastisol from the used tape inside, so the tape doesn't stick in there.

Try using a smaller trash can than the bag fits, then wrap the bag around the outside of the can so the bottom of the trash bag's bottom is at the top of the can. As you pull the tape wad it up a bit and place in the trash can so it does not pull the bag back down, you can use an elastic band (bungee) to help. This allows the bag to "dispense" as you fill the trash can.
Nothing is more difficult than the art of maneuvering for advantageous positions.

We use a flattened box on the floor. then ball it all up and throw in the dumpster. A trash bag isn't even in the mix

we use a box, fold the flaps out, when done fold them on top and tape it up.  we use boxes as garbage cans a lot around here, they fit under presses and save a few steps when you need to throw stuff away.  and you're not buying bags that you will only throw out in a few days.

Same here...all the boxes that our chemicals come in, end up being boxes for tape in the screen cleaning area.

Same here. Box gets full, throw the whole thing away and start a new box.

Are you guys just throwing the box in a contractor bag when it's full or do you put it out on Cardboard day? Or does everyone here have a dumpster?

Spray the new bag generously with WD40 or any type of spray lube, tape never sticks.

or just use beat up old t-shirt boxes that you would be throwing out anyway.  Spraying a plastic bag with WD-40 is a waste of time and perfectly good WD-40.

Not trying to sound like a jerk, but to me it makes the most sense.

Also, we usually sit to untape, and a box is the right height to use as a trash can.

You all are going to think I'm nutty as a fruitcake, but I had permanent block screens and found them a little harder to clean ink from sides, so I prefer tape easier to clean IMHO.
