Holy sh*t, I bought my first auto
« on: July 22, 2019, 08:07:58 PM »
Fun times and big moves.
I was thinking I’d buy an auto in the next couple years but stumbled across an auction and (by golly) I won.

Scored a 2015 M&R Diamondback 7/8

As a little one-man side-hustle shop, this was the press I had decided would be the ideal based on color count and footprint.

I have some logistics to pull together over the next week but this should be a fun adventure.

Awesome!  That will give your arms a break for sure while increasing your output at the same time.  Congrats!
It's not a job if you love doing it.

Thanks! I will be doing the breakdown but plan to pay for install. I’m sure it’s worth the coin to ensure functionality.

Awesome score. Once you get it running and get your load rhythm down, you'll crank shirts right out.

So I’m intrigued.  One man side hustle shop - same here!   How big of a “shop” do you have?   I’m assuming you’re not still in the garage (as I am).

Congrats!

No more pulling the squeegee late. the auto would give you more time to make the next plan.

Committed to a 900 ft commercial space last Aug and moved out of the garage in January. I have a sweet little M&R manual setup and was planning to get an auto in the next couple years. Was trying to decide if I should get the auto or a 4-head embroidery next. Knew that I wanted the 8/7 Diamondback then came across this auction and couldn’t pass it up.

I drive fire engines at the regular job and mostly provide duty gear for other depts and ambulance services.

The shop is really a place to keep my hobbies and hopefully pays for itself. I also plan to work on the Scout and do some other welding projects.

I built a robust L-shaped mezzanine for storage that effectively makes the place about 1300 sq ft of usable space.

I also buy other small shops, keep what I want and flip the rest.

Yay! A Scout person!!! What did you have?

I had a very original 1971 800B that I sat on for 10 years trying to decide between restoring or modifying. I felt guilty about modifying an unmolested rig so I eventually sold it to a guy wanting a good resto base. I figured I wouldn’t get another one but stumbled across the one in the pic for $500.

Is a 1968 800 with a V8 4-speed and fold down windshield (rare for a 1968). This one is just fine to molest. I don’t even plan on buying a top for it.
