The good news is we dont really have a lot to get ready. Move a few things and then the elect/air guy need to drop those cables when we have press position determined.

You need a photo of that MClaren next to the G3. I'm not sure whats sexier. Those are just super bad ass presses.

That'd be hard, I traded the Mclaren a month or so ago for a new Porsche GT3RS. lol

so I am assuming you relayed out the entire operation to accommodate the new press? Are you thinking about adding a split belt? You will find when your doing this so many things will change for the better besides the press. This is the perfect time to evaluate the FLOW of the entire operation. That G3 is a serious press that's going to change the entire level of your operation in all aspects. The logistic of staging etc are very very important going from 1 press to multiple. I just completed process mapping in all dept's here with pain points etc. Doing the mapping really gave me a clearer view of the operation.

No plans for split belt, we don't use discharge or water based inks and basically 99% of our jobs wouldn't require a different belt speed from another really. In the beginning we wont really be using both presses much together, we will likely start off by setting up one press while another is in production, then flip to the other while the other is being broken down and set up for the next job. Probably pick up a couple jobs a day just doing that. More than anything initially our second press being so much larger is to cut down on most any chance of needing to revolver any jobs. We print many 8-9-10 color jobs on our 12 color and at times that gets tricky and we sometimes have to revolver a job to get best results on those 8+ color jobs.

We did change our flow, we used to receive and ship on the same side of the building, imagine a U basically for flow. Now we will be shipping and receiving on opposite sides and staging will take place on one side where we receive and then as they come out of the dryer shipping will take place (or repeat for multiple print locations).

Also area you see the cars sitting now, will likely soon become a dedicated pre-press area. We are getting quotes now for building that area out.
