Ink suitable for printing Tyvek?
« on: May 20, 2011, 06:26:11 AM »
I have a run of about 700 Tyvek "marathon" jackets and need an ink (just black) for them.  This material is the stuff that painter's wear like in a paint booth, basically it's like the white overall suits that are used once and then thrown away.

I think the material has a melting point of around 250F so plastisol is out of the question.

TIA

I printed thousands of tyvek windsocks with good ol Nazdar Air-Dry Solvent ink.  Held up for years.

How fast does it dry? Can you print and stack?
50% of the time I'm 100% right.

depends on the amount of ink you are depositing, but I just ran mine through the conveyor at room temp and when they got to the other side, we stacked.

Do you happen to know the number or name of the ink series you used?

The substrate chart from Nazdar shows a few suitable inks.

The 9700 is a good stand-by, is that the one you use Clark?
That rug really tied the room together, did it not?

We like the NazDar 9500 series for that, we used to print election signs with it, and it's a good multi-purpose air dry ink.
