Forum Guidelines?
« on: April 01, 2011, 04:18:56 PM »
Hi,

Nice work getting the forum up! I'm not clued-in on the acronym -- what is asdf, and how can I avoid it while participating in the discussions?

Thanks!

Bob

unless your name is asdf, I don't think you have to worry about it!

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

I guess that's a good question! What does everybody else think?

Rules:
#1 No asdf
#2 No porn
#3 see rule #1

would that mean we have only three rules?

and of course we need an (ARTIST) forum. you know, the place where printers go to post up a request for an artist...or the place where artist go to reply to a request for art...or the place where an artist can advertise what he does for the printers. Yea, a place like that. What would they call that area?  hmmm.  I know, and "ARTIST" section unlike those "artist sections" at other places.  But I know, it's only  natural to want to include artist in any attempt to create revenue from this place and round us up with other advertisers... so I guess you could not allow artist to advertise in an artist section (where people go to find artist).  Just say'n.  ;   Oh  wait.  How about if you just have some type of artist contribution system up where (in order to advertise your services in the artist forum, the artist would have to have paid his/her dues for the year.
Dues of lets say....$50.00 annually.

I also think you should have a place/section where end users can post up request for print jobs...and printers can contact them privately.
visible to the public...as all forums here (for us) should be only visible to registered members right?  Thats how I'd do it. You want in? you gotta register...and then be reviewed/approved. Might be too much work.

Lets talk about it.

we can not charge for anything right now, there is not enough traffic. Also, even long term, charging artists is not a good business model. PPL with deeper pockets need to be the ones paying for advertising. I like the idea of having some boards private, the pricing board is such, but yeah, there should be more.

The idea of preferred vendors is good though. We should have it set up. For right now, preferred vendor could be somebody offering a discount.

I am thinking we might need another rule: "nothing illegal"

hopefully that rounds it up!

any other suggestions?

What is a "karma" under our forum names to the left?

Also, wherever you click on the site, it acts as a link to www.dot-tone.com.
