Scoop Coaters
« on: October 03, 2013, 12:00:44 PM »
This might be insignificant to some of you, but it's very annoying to me, I bought just about all types of scoop coater's, some I spent pretty good money on and some cheap.  The part they gets under my skin is the build up they leave on the sides which makes that emulsion thick and a little tougher to remove.  I just use a card to wipe it down or smooth it out but should i have to? is there a better scoop coater that will not build up on the side?  Pros and Cons who makes the best that you use.

AWT Pro Angle 2 scoop coater. The side troughs are inset so you don't get that buildup of emulsion on the edges, EVER. Best scoop coater there is.

Thanks Frog, I remember that post but I don't think I read it, but the Monster looks to be what I 'm going to buy next...good money spent well as Sammy would say.

Yeah it does bother me~
I have an ancient AWT coater that's probably 20 years old that
coats perfectly. Yes that's no nicks and the metal edges are flush.

The brand new Tetko leaves the excess on the edges!
Even took some picts and am going to send to them someday.

How does the Monster stop the edges from building up?

It's the only one that I don't have... we have the AWT and it's nice... but I was looking and thinking about the Monster since it got such great reviews here.

OK... I'm in. Just bought my Monster Max on on EBAY.
I've been using their "ergo-force" squeegees... which have worked well for me.

I bought ours on eBay also.  They are nice,  I keep meaning to contact them to see if they will make custom sizes.  They threw some of their scoop cards in the shipment, I would really like to buy a bunch of those but mentally I have a hard time justifying buying them!  We usually just cut up old pizza boxes for the same thing. The pizza boxes offer a bonus,  sometimes there are some leftovers!  :o

Thanks Gillian.

Gerry- here is a link to something else they are selling in eBay.  Looks like no coaters at the current moment but you can probably  email them through eBay and ask! If I'm not mistaken it is the actual manufacturer selling them in eBay.
