Title: ROQ Inline Foil
Post by: 1964GN on March 14, 2019, 07:03:52 AM
We are in the process of purchasing this unit and would like to talk to anyone that has experience with it. There are not a lot out there, unfortunately. We have reached out to Danny via Ryonet but have not heard from him yet. If you have any experience with the ROQ inline foil machine and have time to chat please PM me!

Reach out to him on FB... don’t know how fast the Danny/Ryo network passes info.

We have a ROC here with the inline flock and foil. When it works it works real well. We have had alot of issues with the foiler but it is a older model. They have always stepped up and got here quickly to fix it. We only use the amagic water base glue with the inline unit.

I’ll give you a shout sometime tomorrow. This week in denver has been a mess. We got hit with a blizzard that took everyone’s power out. We just got back up and running today.

Many will disagree however, foil will most likely lose the luster as they exit the dryer, They tend to tarnish a bit when exposed to heat. I prefer to treat this as an after application. Costly but when applied correctly worth the money.

Or you can run a catalized adhesive and when the job is foiled on press the shirt does not even have to go through the dryer and you can achieve a non tarnished look......... Waterbase glue plus a good fixer is a great tool for inline foil

An excellent consideration Danny and thank you for that. However, what are the thoughts on multicolor prints with foil accents? Also table space for final cure. Not a knock at all. There all always ways do things differently

Right, But what about the designs that require Flock and foil

Last I saw the process was so slow I could read half a book before final product came down the belt.  Consider all the equip upgrades which are difficult to switch out to standard production. Much of this this may have changed since then so that said, just  do due diligence when pricing. Proper flocking requires the rayon particles to stand uprate. This is an electrostatic  application. And then there is the reclaiming of all the air born material. Yes, that has been addressed but without another piece of equipment. Most companies choose to locate these applications to a designated press in an isolated environment.
All that said IMO it would be best to have steady business to support all this.
It's could you/should you

We’ve  done several flock orders over 5000 pcs with run rates around 600 pcs per hr utilizing two people on press, a catcher and someone that occasionally that adds flock/ink on press. If you have the equipment and understand how to use it they are pretty efficient imo. As for the multi color plus foil that’s one application we obviously have to cure for proper adhesion but the post dryer foil appearance is something most clients are ok with that we’ve sold through to. Inline foil and flock isn’t for everyone but when it’s dialed it’s a money maker and one of those tools that make that particular application much easier to do. Somewhat similar to pre press in the fact a film will do in essence the same job as a dts but getting to the end of the process is much more edfiecint and makes everything else flow down stream.

Good to know! Those numbers are light years ahead of what I've seen in the past. I am assuming a 14 color press would be optimal for combo flock/foil/multi color but feel free to correct me on that. If one dials in on flock, they can command a premium price point.
