Title: New Riley Hopkins junior
Post by: tonypep on August 15, 2019, 06:04:19 PM
After several discussions with good people I have to admit that I am a bit disappointed. Videos and photos will not help. I used to be a mechanic and machine mfr. This is a simple fix. For the tenth time, there is really only one way to put it together. The press manufacturure has gone through a few people as far as owners. Riley being the best. I will give up or will take it to a local machine shop to make it do what it is supposed to do. This is simple stuff!

Is this a matter of "you get what you pay for"?

And we have. All is well and we shall figure it out. Everyone has been standout albeit a bit perplexed. It happens even to me.

Good to hear TP. I am sure whatever it is, if there is still an engineer that has anything to with Hopkins, it will be looked at.

The problem is those presses are being mfg. by ryonet and Riley has been bought out from my understanding.( someone please correct me if I am mistaken)  I do really like the BWM HOPKINS( different company) presses though. I would demand a return and refund from ryonet and get something that works.. It is never going to be right. And you payed for a new perfect registration press.

We are working through it however for the eleventh time you cant register a press when the print arm crashes at the top of the reg gate. It is not the bolts or anything. Take the springs off and all is well. Put them back on and there is the issue.

Tony.

As we discussed over text.  In the pictures you showed me, we could not see where the issue was, so we could not give any direction on how to fix it.  I asked if we could get on a video chat either by facetime or another method so myself and our engineers can see what you are seeing.

As I stated: Its a new press, we are more than happy to work with you and we will either fix it or replace it.  We just need to be able to see whats going on and progress from there.

Please do not take this the wrong way. I love the press and I know everything will be made right. We are just working through it.

Good to see Ryonet here standing by their equipment.  Good/Bad/or whatever.   Having someone here say “we will either fix it or replace it” is a good thing.

They have always been right there to resolve issues we have had here with the folder and foiler. They actually replaced the In line foiler after 2 years with a small cash difference.

Back in London  the shop I used to manage bought a Riley Hopkins press. I think that was back in 2002 or so. That was well before they partnered up with what used to be Ryonet. Back then the joystick regi system was brand new. How much I hated that press. Plastic bolts in the screen gate that would wear down fairly quickly, the joystick registration was not moving very smoothly, and then after I left the UK to set up my own shop in Japan I got a call from my old boss saying that one arm just completely broke off the press. It was a 4 pallet six color press, well after that it was 3/6 press- too bad. Not sure how thew issues got resolved and I`m sure the presses got improved over the years, but yes I made sure that we only bought M&R equipment for my own shop.

Except for the fact that BWM had been the contract manufacturer for Hopkins Intl equipment and only acquired the rights to the patents as part of the lawsuit settlement after Riley failed to pay his bill... oh well

We are working on it but no success just yet. Comunication is a bit of an issue.
