Title: Barudan 2 head cost
Post by: cbjamel on March 11, 2019, 06:05:52 PM
Any buddy know what a Barudan 2 head runs?
Is it better than Tajima and SWF.
Can you get closer to the bill on it vs the others??
Better for foam??

Thanks,
Shane

I think a 2 head is around 26-28k. I could be wrong on that but it should be in that range. From what I'm told they are a superior machine for hats. My brother is running a Melco and getting some great results, but he's itching to get a Barudan.

Antigua runs 270 heads of Barudan 24/7.....That says a lot in my mind.....

Barudan machines are better than Tajima machines and both Barudan and Tajima are far better than SWF.
The Barudan will cost you though. Call them get a quote

IMO get at least a 4 or 6 head. You'll regret it later if not.

Barudan and Tajima are similar in cost, at least they were when I got my last quote.

We've had almost zero downtime with both of ours.  What is cool is certified techs have to fill out service forms that go to Barudan when a machine is repaired.  They take that information and track it to find weak spots in the machine and improve upon that in future machines.  It's really a smart system.

Rough estimate of 10-14k per head.

You might want to look at a 4 or 6 head Tajima. Tajima is a rock solid machine.
The 4 head shouldn't be much, much more...

Tajima is a rock solid machine. SWF is close to child's play compared to these other two.

Get a quote on a 4 and 6 just to have your numbers. 2 head is not a production machine.

I agree with brandt.  A 2 head is great once you are established in embroidery for small runs of caps or something like that where you don't want to tie up a bigger machine.  We got a single head for stuff like that.  A 2 head probably would have been a better move, but for us it works.

we started with a single, then we happened upon a double... we just got a 6 head...

I would def go with a 4 or 6.. if you only get a double you will outgrow really fast..

we like our double head for names, because ours has the Digital screen where you can actually see whats stitching, so its a good last spell check.. the 6 and single just have the file name.

Machine cost... a 6 head is not even 2x the cost of a 2 head, so you are getting 3x the output for less than 2x the price and its versatile. You can turn off the heads and do names if you need. Or you can use them all and work 3x faster on bulk orders. It matters at the end of the day.

When I got my Barudan 6 head 2 years ago it was 50k and cheaper than a Happy and ZSK by far. I was shocked. If you get a Tajima get a stretch as the compacts are manufactured in China, so you're paying the same as a Barudan, but it's not manufactured nearly as well. My Barudan was also the wide sewing field. A compact would have been about 4k - 6k less. Just make sure you're comparing sewing fields when looking at prices.

Ohhhhh....and I LOVE my Barudan. I used to have SWFs and they were terrrrrrrible (very bad experience). Nowhere near the quality of a Barudan.

Anybody have a Ricoma CHT series to compare to Barudan with stitch quality and how about getting lower on flexfit hats?
Thanks,
Shane

I feel like Tajima prices are up to the sales guy. We bought a machine for 85k. Next thing I know they are having a sale with this new guy and its 68k.

Might be able to find a good used one from http://www.stitchitintl.com/ (http://www.stitchitintl.com/) or digitsmith.com

Barudan is hands down much better than Ricoma. They're made in China and all those off brand Butterflies, Redlines, etc. Are just rebranded Ricomas. Barudans hold their value really well and sell quickly. Ricomas not so much.

Like Brett mentioned, don't buy a Ricoma. We bought a new Avance 4 head (which is a rebranded Ricoma) 4 years ago. While it has paid for itself easily it's been a huge struggle all of the way, especially on hats. We picked up a 2015 Barudan single head last summer and have blown away by the speed and quality. So much so that we just pulled the trigger on a new Barudan 6 Head compact which should be here in a couple of weeks.

The plan is to leave the Avance for flats and dedicate the Barudan to hats, and only convert one or the other on large runs. I can't tell you how excited I am to never run a hat on the Avance again!

There are really only 2 brands of embroidery machines you consider. Baurdan and Tajima. Everything else is worse, some way worse. If you are shopping on price you are already doing this wrong.
