We are trying to use our manual a little more often for smaller jobs with low color counts to free up press time on our auto while we wait to get a new space and another press. I have only had 2 flash dryers for manuals in the past: a shitty offshore no name brand coil, and my own diy infrared panel that I Frankenstein'd together, which won't fly in a shop with a bunch of users. I'm a little lost on what the best options are for buying one honestly...
If you had to pick one "cheap" option and one "nice" option, what brands/models would you choose?
For cheap I mean something under $1000, larger the panel/heat size the better, bells and whistles like auto rotation are cool, but I don't expect them at this price of course.
For "nice", I mean something around $3k (less if possible) UNLESS it could also play nice with an auto later as well. If something could plug into a Gauntlet down the road but also be used with a food pedal, that would be worth the extra cost. I don't care too much about infrared vs quartz, though figuring out the electrical for quartz may be a little bit of a challenge short term.
Any thoughts? Thanks!

M/R BLUE FLASH. Is what I would go with today. We have 2 here on the 14 color chameleons and love them. You wont be disappointed.

Chili with the sensor eye is nice on a manual and will plug into and perform on your auto. The intensity control is a must but I believe they have more advanced heat control than that on them now, depending on the model.

It is a Red Chili D is the one that has the sensor. Keep in mind a quartz will save you energy cost more so then a IR flash.

I have an auto rotate Workhorse Super Seca flash for the manual. I'm not crazy about it. Can't go wrong with a BBC black body flash, those things are tanks.
Vastex has some nice options. I've been seeing a good amount of used M&R Acoma flashes. I might pick one up. It has the auto rotate built right in which is nice and has temp control.

Anyone know if the m&r flashes will work on a workhorse sabre? Leaning toward going that route...

I don't think you can plug it in but you can run it with pallet sensor.

o thats cool, so you would just control it like a flashback or another "dumb" flash vs through the software and the quartz bulbs power on when they sense the platen? DEFINITELY leaning that way now...

Yes, optical sensor that fires at index. You could put a flash with an optical sensor on any machine.
