Title: How flat is flat-new set of adult standard size pallets for M&R auto
Post by: Rockers on August 11, 2019, 10:32:47 PM
Set up a brand new set of adult standard size pallets on our M&R auto yesterday. Took me a considerable amount of time to get it all level. Almost all pallets had a peak around the center of the pallet while the left and right side where a little lower. This did cause some drag  when moving the floodbar from back to front. That`s our first new set of pallets we purchased since we bought the auto 6 years ago and I have no idea what sort of flatness I should and can expect from a brand new set of pallets. Of course I assume they won`t be 100% even but I did not expect for them to be higher around the center of the pallet.

My replacement set from Action Engineering was perfectly flat.  What brand did you get?

One thing you might try is running them under the flash a bit hotter (without garments) and do that for a while, then let it cool off completely, then do it again to try and season them.  They may flatten out.  My experience is that the sides come up a bit....

I have never had a problem with platens from M&R.  I did however receive some from Action that weren't good and they stood behind them without any hesitation.  I got another set for our new auto and the new ones were perfect.

Have you printed on them yet??

I'm just a manual press guy and when I found some pallets with a peak in the middle (front to back), I found that the ink was not clearing from the screens on the 'low' sides.  And when I tried to compensate by using more pressure on a low side, the ink was too heavy on the middle.

I suspect even on an auto you're going to experience the same thing.  If it was me, I'd get em replaced......stat.

Not printed on them yet.  We are on our annual 1 week summer break here in Japan- the whole country is off commemorating  and remembering deceased ancestors. It is believed that their spirits return at this time to visit their relatives. But enough of that and back to the pallets. Yes that was as well my thought and I`d rather don`t use them as I don`t want to be told we warped them :)  I`m sure the manufacturer and us will come to an agreement. These new pallets were supposed to replace our old slightly warped pallets.  Obviously we have to try harder.

Sorry but I don`t pay $1500 for pallets just so I end up doing some DIY project to get them straight. That really ain`t happening.

Agreed.  Tell them to send a new sent and to pick up the old ones.  M&R or Action brand?

I`m not here to name anyone, sorry. Mistakes can happen. Most important is how they will be addressed:) And I`m happy how the supplier dealt with it right away.
