We are looking at a used 6 head Tajima. But we would like to talk to someone who knows these machines. We are in Northern California, if someone here could help.
Thank you!

Check out yahoo groups there is a group called tajima users.
Someone there will have a recommendatio

We use Hirsch since that's who we got the machines from.
Jose is a good guy, not sure if he goes that far for service though.
I think Mooseman is sending you on the right track. Hirsch surely takes some cash for themselves scheduling service, but if all else fails you can try calling them.

Hirsch is terrible to have to go through. A lot of delays, slow responses through them. Unfortunately I only know of one tech in my area and he isn't the most reliable and while I do schedule him for yearly maintenance, I don't think he is at all as thorough as other techs would be.
I am in SE Michigan though so tech(s) will be a completely different story in your area.

Yes Hirsch sucks. Been waiting all week for them to call me back to schedule a tech.

We have a two month old TMAR 6..
Worked great for the first 1.5 months.
Then, slowly - three of the heads went out of alignment.
God only knows how. No hoop hits. We have been extremely
careful with the machine.. Just constant needle breaks. Its crazy.
Hirsch told us no tech available for three weeks. Apparently only
a handful of techs available to work to work on the TMAR.
Does not bode well....

For those that are unaware, Kenny Lightfoot (emb tech) passed away suddenly this past June. Great guy and a tragic loss. RIP buddy

Why wait all week call back every 2 hours until you get your answer. Don't accept sub standard service.

We're fortunate here in Houston to have Robert Parker. He's a contract tech for Hirsch and also does his own thing. Awesome tech and very familiar with the intricacies of the TMARK and all previous models. They are very specialized machines and require a different installation setup tolerances than the previous models. We had some of the same issues originally with the original installation of our TMARK Type II, but once the properly trained technicians got out and set the machine up tight, it's been butter ever since. I know Robert mainly works in the Houston and surrounding areas but he's a great guy and does great work.
If anyone needs his contact information, hit me up and I will provide it for you.
And I have to take issue with the comments that Hirsch support is sub-par. They have always been quick and helpful to us. Just keep in mind how many calls they get because of all the machines in the field. They have a call queue and sometimes they are slammed. Who can say they don't have issues like that sometimes.
I might also add that anyone that has more than 2 machines in their shop ought to become very familiar with fixing some things themselves and being a bit mechanically inclined to do so. Hirsch is always quick to provide white papers to guide even the most un-mechanical person to fix things like stuck knives, presser foot connecting studs and reciprocator replacements. They aren't that hard to do. Heck, even my wife can do some of these things now when the need arises.
