Post by: Mitchel on February 15, 2019, 04:19:36 PM
Hi all
Do you know why the 431 gray is refreshing next to the other colors when it comes out of the oven?
I use Rutland for color mixes

thank you
Michel,

Most ink companies, if not all, offer gray ink formulas using color. In theory that is correct. Not always applicable for us however. If there is a lot of yellow, you may expect some shifting later after dryer exit. Not sure about "refreshing" term. If you care to elaborate perhaps we can be of better help.

Hi Tony

I did not really elaborate my problem, in my mix of 431 Rutland it is composed of 46% of white, 47% of black, 6% of blue and 0.25% of red for a quantity of 300 gram.

the problem was that at the exit of the oven the gray was brilliant, after all verification I found the problem is the flash that was too strong.
I reduced the flash time and the color is staying mat.
I went from 4 seconds to 2.8 seconds, the logo still has 10 '' x 15 ''

Thank you for your response Tony!

Ahh, it was shiny. It was the "refreshing" that confused many of us. Did you mean "reflecting"?
And yes, too much heat can increase the gloss of plastisol. Good you solved your issue.

Mitchel, I use a lot of Rutland inks as well. be sure not to over heat under the flash. But I think most ink have to high of gloss after cure so we add 2% dulling paste to all of are inks.
