Is it possible to print on lime green shirts cmyk?
« on: December 09, 2013, 01:04:29 PM »
Never have printed cmyk before and now have this request for 750 pieces printed front and back cmyk on lime green shirts. Is this possible? I will post up art as soon as I get it. And it is a contract customer, depending on price I may be able to sub it out but the deadline is way short.

should be able to, you'll probably need a base though.

If you've never done CMYK before, start testing NOW!  There are a lot of "tricks" beyond just printing the screens.  The color order, density, etc all make a big difference in the final result.  If there are skin tones in the art you may look intro CMOK instead (O meaning Orange).  I'm not an expert on this, but I have played around with it.  I'm sure some others with more experience will chime in.

Well, CMYK inks are transparent, so you will need 2 white; a base and a highlight. And there is at least one flash...

It's difficult to say the least. Hell, getting CMYK good is difficult, let alone over a base.

Here is the art, let me know what you guys think, and if you think I should pass on this job being it would be our very first attempt.

Personally wouldn't do it as CMYK. Simprocess would be best, but just for giggles
open it in Photoshop and run index on it, manually select yellow, orange, green, black,lt brown and dk brown. (wood)
Wood grain looks awesome indexed. See how it does with the photograph, which is really more backgroundish
anyways. How many colors is your press again? May not need dk brown.

8 Color press, just nervous about doing 750 pieces both sides with a process I have never done.

Index is a heck of a lot easier than process, especially over an underbase.
Question is if the end result will be acceptable.

I doubt I could get this job done and in the customers hands by the 17th. How do you tell a customer that you're not comfortable printing a job like this?
