You want to print a color over a white background and have it wash off? Poster paint, let it air dry.

Looking for something in more of a pen or marker format. Poster paint will crack?

Well, Crayola markers wash off of anything. I know, I have a 3 year old.

If I understand correctly, Union makes an ink that you can use chalk on. . .write on, wipes off.

Yeah, years ago in Oakland I used their blackboard ink and printed shirts for hookers so they could post and change the "Daily Special"

If you are looking for Chalkboard ink you can use Wilflex One Step Nylon Black. It will work as Chalkboard ink.

I wasn't aware of that Erin. I have used Union's Chalkboard ink though. Printed baseball scoreboards on kids' shirts so they could keep score during games. Included a piece of chalk with each shirt. I'll look into the One Step Nylon if we keep that design next year.

OSN Black will hold up after serveral washings.

Here is a recommendation from Wilflex Tech Services:

"The best results were obtained with MVP White / Ath Trophy White.  Print parameters:
 
86-110 mesh
P/F/P - cure
Heat press the print with a Teflon sheet to smooth the surface
 
Good results when wiped clean in less than 6 hours
Faint image is seen if writing is left over night."
 
We suggest testing this ink and process with the specific markers in mind.

Let us know how it turns out...

Heat pressing is a great idea.  That would really give you a smooth surface.

On a related note, since heat presses were brought up, Union (and maybe others) sells an ink for DIY transfers that accepts crayon or markers. It is called Crayon Clear.
