7 colors minimum needed.

you can get away with 6 screens if its a black shirt, with some edits and using the base for all the tonals, but that will require a bunch of manual edits.  we do this frequently. i see base, pink, red, green, yellow, highlight white.  it will look better with a black, and maybe 2 pinks instead of 1.

How many colors is really a personal preference with the question (how accurate) does the customer want this print to be.  You can use 12 colors, or you can even print it in as low as 5 colors similar to 4 color process with a base.


Each shop can do it differently and be correct.
