All is not lost.

As a child of self-centered parents that grew up in the 70's, I am taking a stand. (so is my wife). My children were and are being raised with kindness and respect for other above all else. My daughter is 19 and in college and she works her ass off every day and is extremely intelligent and above all polite.

My son is 3 and the same values have been drilled into him from day one. He gets nothing without saying please and thank you.

There are millions of parents out there that don't care though, and it's really sad. They just go with what they know, and were probably raised by self centered people and are letting their kids be self-centered people.

Not me. Fight the good fight.

If it's not posted, it's not trespassing? Really? I guess my question is do you own it? If not it's trespassing, unless you have the owner's permission to be on it.

I'm sorry..but that is not correct.  That is why they make tresspassing signs and purple paint.  I have hunted extensively across the U.S. on other peoples land.  Had very long talks with the farmers land that I hunt and conservation officers that control migratory birds..they only time I ever ask permission is if its posted.  Freelancing waterfowl in the northern prairie is done by thousands of people every year, legally..without permission of the land owners.  If they don't want their property hunted, they put a sign on it with their phone #.   If you spent time up there as I have, and befriended the locals, you would know that for many of them charging people to hunt their land or even asking permission is looked down on.

I don't see how it would matter 1 acre, a living room or my 110 acres.

If you ain't supposed to be there, and YOU do not own it, get off it.

Size makes no difference.

If you would take the time to read my posts, I never said it is okay to tresspass on posted private property.  On the grounds I lease we take a lot of care to keep poachers off it.  Perhaps reading comprehension isn't your strong suit.  To me there is a big difference in walking on to someone's 1 acre lot that has a residence on it, and walking around on someones wide open space that isn't posted.  My comments were more geared toward the fact that in the next 20 years only the rich will be allowed to enjoy many sporting activities that take place in wide-open country, and to me, that is too bad.  Hopefully the folks in the north don't take up this boards (and the whole state of Texas's) attitude.  It's a sad site to drive down to south Texas and see nothing but hundreds of miles of high-fence so they can keep THEIR DEER on THEIR LAND.

This reminds me of a song!

    There was a big high wall there that tried to stop me;
    Sign was painted, it said private property;
    But on the back side it didn't say nothing;
    This land was made for you and me.

I think the original intent of the thread was to say that young people these days are ignorant and disrespectful, even more than in times past. I would have to agree.

Clark don't be such a prude. I was defending the uptight landowner as you decided I was.

Your little hunting thing sounds like years of its OK.

In the south and I'm sure many other places, not making money of invading hunters on the scale you speak of.

We just do not want you on our place.

SO If You Don't Own It Keep Off.

Is that simple enough for ya to understand..

I wouldn't hunt in Tennessee anyway, Arkansas is closer and better. So you don't have to worry about me "invading" your space.  As for the rest of your post.  I can't retort what I don't understand..maybe it's too "simple" for me.  Y'all have a great weekend!

OK I went back and read them. Yours are no better than mine.

But since you think it is ok to bag a burger off my grill in my big back yard...

run fast and keep your head down. ;D

Looks to me like your reading and writing skills could use a brush up.

Me I try to go by the Golden Rule.

You would have to look that up.

As you seem to only think about yourself.

Sometimes I think (hope) things get lost in "translation". If only we could make eye contact while posting.

I was recently chastised for not including LOL disclaimers or emoticons in some communications in a business matter. It reminded me that I often take for granted that the other party either knows us by know, understands us, or can automatically understand the intent rather than just the content.
It's a brave new world out there now with this type of communication slowly phasing out voice, with it's intonations and expression.

Though many say that the new method and style is pushing real writing skills to the back, I hope that, texting notwithstanding,  it will actually force some to expand vocabulary and develop clearer writing skills.

I can dream can't I? lol!  ;D

I don't think there was much misinterpretation. Some guys like to make signs, other guys like to ignore them.

Oddly, I see more and more typos in places where you'd least expect them. Newspapers, online articles written by people with a decent vocabulary, but poor spelling skills, not just in the passionate rants of some of us using forums, or the comment sections of other online information and editorial entities. Whether they, or their editors, rely on "spellcheck" rather than read the piece for context, who nose?

This is not to support or take away from anyones position on tress passing but to shed some light on locations and differences.

In my neck of the woods where I grew up, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio, it's just as CNClarck says in terms of hunting. It's a common understanding that unless it's posted ( out in the woods) you can walk around hunting all you want. Stay away from houses. They don't like  you shooing in he back yard. If it's posted, and you stumble upon someone elses posted property ( and they don't know you're in it, you could get a bullet zing over your head. Happened to me on a few occasions. Just warning shots from a feeble minded old man that likes to squabble with his sister and the sister gave us permission. Anyways, everyone knows the "code of the land" in those states. Most times they just want to be aware you are on it. Hunt for free in those states. Nobody pays the owners.

Down here in Florida, different ball game. They charge big money to hunt on property. Like thousands of dollars.  Crazy.  That's the contrast between what people think of being on someones land. It's very different depending on where you are from. Oh, and up north, you may also come across the sound of dueling banjos in the woods so,  you know what that means. Keep your powder dry. ;)
