Something new for me...Socks
« on: December 18, 2011, 02:22:22 PM »
As I said, my first time.
Eastbay,  the manufacturer does offer "personalization" but according to my customer, only on a minimum ten pieces of the same decoration. WTF?
That's not exactly personalization.
That rug really tied the room together, did it not?

How did you accomplish that?

These were cad-cut with standard Polyurethane film, (still lumped in with and referred to as "vinyl" by many)

Does it hold well to sock material? I know some of the stuff is available with a more aggressive adhesive. Looks good, I have to say.
Work is the curse of the drinking class . . .

Way better than I thought that it would. If I could have, I'd would have done these with the stretchier product, but since the letters are so narrow, the stretch of the socks turned out to be less of an issue that I expected.
Gotta run, kickoff!

Sorry, I never responded to this back when it was current.

"Vinyl" and "Iron-on" do sometimes seem to lessen the sense of quality with these materials and this process.
When asked if what I am offering is "iron-on" I answer "well yes, but we use a large industrial heat press which produces even heat and pressure over the entire area in one shot.

As for "vinyl", I refer to our products in general as die-cut or custom cad-cut "Heat Seal Films".

I'll leave "vinyl" to the adhesive backed materials used on signs and other flat stock, though I bet that many of them are polyurethane or other materials as well.

We have had a lot of success sublimating the little ped socks for cheer leading schools and camps. They love that kind of stuff, seem the more outlandish the garment the more they want it.
