Do you use a certain art to calibrate and test Platen level
« on: August 28, 2020, 10:31:59 AM »
I want to ensure our press is level, as we have had movement on our platens over the years.
Does anyone here use any type of calibration art to test platen level after doing the tooling on a platen?

Im not even sure this is a thing or not.  We have a technician coming out to service our press, and Id love to throw something on that would test the registration.

Zip it! File types not in the "allowed" list can be zipped and attached to a post.

Pretty cool file there for that last one.  I think that helps a lot for registration.

I do a lot of tight tolerance halftone work. I make one large consistent fill of 3% halftones filling  making it slightly larger than the advertised max imprint area for that press.

Tells me if the emulsion coating is consistent across the stencil.
Tells me if the screen room is washing out the dots consistently.
Tells me what our literal MAX printable area is as well, where the squeegee starts to play a roll none contact with the desired pressure.
This shows me if a pallet is slightly uneven. It will be heavier in some areas or not making enough contact in others consistently.

The variable is the inconsistent pressure from side to side. (Should be close).

Dottone and ZooCity, thanks so much for sharing. I like both ideas a whole lot. Never thought of using a consistent gradient for checking side-to-side levelness.

You have a recommendation for a service tech? I'm pretty sure you guys aren't far from us, northern cali. Thanks

Here is my newest detail test and also covers corner pallet control and aligned pressure.
This should have everything in it that you need and then some.
