Instead of stupid fonts I might be the one stupid here, but can anyway  tell me what use do you have for those fonts on your computer that are square boxes or those symbols

Instead of stupid fonts I might be the one stupid here, but can anyway  tell me what use do you have for those fonts on your computer that are square boxes or those symbols

The square boxes are typically a character that the font doesn't have. IE not every font has an umlaut.
The included windows program Character Map can be interesting to look at. Typographers are an odd lot.
