whitewater:
Has anyone seen this before?

They said they were getting some erratic readings in the dryer. So I was checking myself, and I looked in and saw the heating panels cracked and one further inside down a little...

I dont want to replace these...ugh... do you think I would have to?

farmboygraphics:
Yes. I had one like that, one day if finally gave out and arced to the bed of the dryer. Went through a shirt and burned a hole in the belt.
You might check here. https://intekcorp.com/product/om-model-heating-panels-ir-emitters/

whitewater:
thank you for that.. im going to check those panels out - $900 for 1 from MR

I just got off the phone with MR, the one sagging is prob not working and the other 2 could have superficial cracks due to compensating for the one thats down.

bimmridder:
That probably means $300 from someone else.

SPX:
Be interesting to open up the bad one and see the cause. I believe these IR use a spiral coil wire.  Maybe they start sagging and sometime the coil is wrapped around a ceramic rod. Maybe rod broke and sagged then the exterior board.
broke due to heat. See if you have continuity from each lead on the bad one when disconnected. If no, then the coil broke inside.

Take some pics if you do…Never really took apart one. Have elongated one of the coil to terminals slightly.

Other type of heating element is similar to a n elemnt used on a oven. It is ridgid and shaped.

I believe you may need to drill out some rivets.
