Where do you find your security key for your wireless router?

you don't.  it's a password you set up.  You might have to reset the router if you can't find it.

if it's a brand new router, it should be in the papers that come with it.  if it's one you setup a while ago, it should be assigned to it already.

do an online search of that make and model number, it should be on the website as the default password

Almost every single router has it on a sticker some where on the physical router itself. Also it comes on a card or booklet or something that comes with the router. It is a default wifi that can be changed if you never changed it then you have to find that sticker or piece of paper with it on it. I always triple back up my wifi pass words just in case.

my girlfriends DSL router has a WEP password on the bottom of the router.  it was the first time i have seen it - both of my personal WIFI routers came without passwords.  one is a Linksys WRT54GL, and the other is a ASUS (unk model).

if you cant find the password, reset the router, connect via ethernet and then change the settings from there.

Use WPA, and hide the SSID.  WEP passwords are easily cracked.

this might help if you know the router model:

Yeah, newer routers have one setup by default... retarded... how am I suppose to get free wifi when I'm out and about. ;)

Anyway, like stated, it should be on a sticker.

Also you might can log straight into the router and get it.  Try something like http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.254

If it's not one of those then you need to tell me what router you have because that covers most including dlink and netgear.

From there you should have a default user name and pass to get into the settings... it's in the manual (download if you don't have) and then you can setup your password if it doesn't allow you to see it (most do).

Got it. It was on the bottom of the modem. It is a long one. I did not think that was it because the one for my house is only about 10 characters and this was like 20-25!

Oh yeah lol. They were a bunch of idiots. They could have wiped me out and loaded up my truck with all kinds of electronic gear but they didnt. I think the main focus was jewelery, cash and guns.
