Above pocket print
« on: June 29, 2012, 12:16:16 PM »
We have never done an "above pocket print" on our automatic.  I was going to line it up with lazers and put the print about 3/4 inch above the pocket.

Any suggestions for making this job run smoother??

Thanks.

no suggestions for smoother running, but I usually run them a little closer to the top of the pocket, more like 3/8"
Of course, like so many things in this biz, it's what the custy wants if feasible.

Is there any concern about messing up the off contact being so close to the pocket??

I have always shimmed the board, which helps me position, and also allows me to almost butt up to the pocket if desired. (also, less wear on the screen so I also suggest reinforcing yours with tape)

We've run them exactly as you describe without issues, 160 or 125, reasonably tight--we just use a laser points for each top corner on the pocket.  I have shimmed them a few times, but it's a PITA to do it on ten stations.

I used to run above pockets lower then 3/4", but got complaints--apparently the guys cigarette packs were then covering up the bottom of the logo...   ::)

I do it just like Frog on the manual--no laser jig over there.   :(

Well I have made up my mind on how to do this order.  We will print the pocket on the manuel and the back on the auto.

I already have the front screens and and do not want to remake them.

I will try do the above pocket print on my next order.

Thanks for the help.
