Epson 1400
« on: July 27, 2012, 11:14:29 AM »
Ok, I got an Epson 1400 printer and ordered the inks to change it into All Black. I downloaded the Accu Rip Trial to get started but now the Red Ink light stays on on the front of the printer and it will not print anything. Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks
Pete

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

Unplug it, reinstall the carts making sure they are seated and fire it back up. Also this may sound obvious but take the tape off the chip.

On ours we sometimes have issues with the light cyan color....we have to re-seat it a few times afterwards every time....some times also the only way to get it back to normal is to put a real cartridge in there...then put the refillable one back in.

When you hit the ink button the carraige will move over to the middle of the printer...you'll see an arrow on the printer in the middle and the carraige will stop on the color that is causing the light to stay on...sometimes on ours if we do not turn off the power to the printer it will actually stop on every single color...1 at a time.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I still can't get it to work. The only other thing I can think of is that the Ink Cartridges I bought are bad.

Call the folks that you bought the cartridges from, they may have a handy hint. Can you make a test print using the Epson Printer Utility?

Always good to have a chip resetting tool around
