Thanks Dan!  There is nothing like great seps and rollers with s mesh.

I like great sep's with Statics and regular chinese mesh. That's what we run
How did you manage to end up with Chinese mesh. My experience with any thing screen print related from China is rather of the negative side of things. As a matter of fact I would almost say don`t buy anything of Alibaba especially not without trade assurance. I can`t recall a single order where things arrived either as described, not damaged or of such low quality that it didn`t even last for a year before breaking down.

I don't use that knowingly but there is a company(not going to mention) that does a lot of re-stretching on the west coast  that i know use it. Other than the durability it printed great and we ran a lot of complex graphics using those screens. Definitely a question I ask now with people who re-stretch and by no means recommend or promote Chinese mesh.

SERJ,  The teals in CMYK are hard to achieve rich and clean teals. Good teals anyways.   Here, in this print, it showcases the use of good inks. In this case, it's what makes the difference.  Great printing and seps, but it also shows great inks!

This one is fun because I get the chance to blend and use the shirt and the limited number of inks to aid in pulling this off.

Base white, + 3 colors.     Lemon Yellow or pms 102, 185 or "Drake red",   and 341 Green.

230 on base. The shirt is not that dark and there is no top white needed so a 230 is perfect.  305s on top colors to get the inks to blend well with. thin lay down and fall into the shirt for the shadows (building a black).

When I was told I could only use 4 colors on this one and then saw what I needed to create, I thought...ain't gonna happen but then I remembered my ole trick of mixing paints for traditional painting. As a young artist, I was very limited on the amount of tubes of paint I could buy with limited funds, so I learned to use what I had. Somewhere along the way, one of my art teachers in high school mentioned I could paint with the primary colors and not use black and the art becomes more “rich” and clean. The concept is that when using black, it muddy's up the colors. Creating blacks, will work most of the time, but not always. It depends on what shade of primary colors you can use in the art. So in art school, I made that work for me and used a lot of basic primary colors. Yellow, Red, Blue.  Back then, I had what I had and got what I got out of it. But on the computer, and with a wider range of yellows, and reds, and blues, warm reds, cool reds, etc. I could do a lot more.  Anyhoo, this is it.

Notice in the Pantone colors I used, I used a Green that has a lot of blue in it.  Blue, Yellow, Red on a pink shirt makes a good brown,  Red and Green on a pink shirt makes good deep shadow color similar to black.  Anyways, that's a little to do with real color theory and traditional painting experience.

Thanks
DAN

Yes,  I love that one. So simple, but so much out of it.  That brown came out really well and I'd almost swear there was black being used if I didn’t do it myself.

Thanks for the backstory, Dan. The mileage you can get out of a few colors is impressive. But it's nice to get some of the insight into your thought process that helps you get there, too.
Nice guys laugh last.
