Title: bobbins
Post by: 3Deep on March 31, 2014, 05:37:02 PM
any of use and like the magnetic bobbins or the old standard cardboard sided bobbins, so far I'm liking the magnetic ones, very little bobbin adjustment were as with the other ones it seemed I was doing more adjustments on the bobbin holder.  Also have any of you done your own bobbin to match the thread color on top, we've been ask about doing this on some small towels.

D, we use the magnetic bobbins. they work great because it reminds us which way it goes in the bobbin case  ;D

we use the magnetics also HOWEVER I do not like the recycle program and we trash our cores.
I do not like the idea of getting once or many times used bobbin cores. The virtue of these little gems is the obvious however the apparent strength can easily be compromised by many elements such as heat, other magnets, electrical fields etc. While these possible force reducing / altering elements may not be significant in most bobbins I wonder what the result is if I get a box of cores that have been around the block a few times.
There is not a substantial attractive force in the relatively weak magnet anyway so who really knows.
We continue to use them and trash the used cores.

LOL jay that is one of the biggest reasons for us too, my wife would always put the bobbin in backwards, then look at me like its my fault.

for a long time i didn't know their was a correct way...the reason I don't run embroidery.

magnetic all the way here.  I won't go back..at least I certainly don't see a reason to.

lol It's like which way does the Toilet Paper go - over the top or under?
My wife had under and I said, the pattern shows when it goes over!

Bobbin same - goes over top, give me a better reason... ???

Least amount of tread breaks, runs smoothly, no issues with them, I'm yet to throw one because of badly wound bobbin. No issues with tension.
Why would I try anything else

same can be said for magna glides...and the bobbin cases stay cleaner, and tension is perfect from start to finish
