Title: Long time listener, first time caller...
Post by: SEPSINK on February 05, 2016, 03:06:49 PM
Hey guys!

My name is LT Magnotto and I have been doing color separations full time for about 12 years now. I manage a file prep/pre press department with 4 other separators who work on separations for screen printing, direct to garment, dye sublimation and embroidery. When I'm not pushing pixels on the clock, I do freelance color separations (Imageseps@gmail.com for more info!)

Stoked to find such an active community of knowledgable printers! There is always something new to learn from someone else's process. Thanks for having me!

Samples of my color separation work.

VERY NICE.  Is that discharge or plastisol? I get it that some separators don't get all that info but figured I'd ask.

Very nice, I particularly like the top one, but both are exceptional... and welcome, this is a really great place.

This is a plastisol print. 8 colors and a base! The shop that I work at, the ink type is chosen by the customer and then all of the colors, mesh and print order/setup is dictated by the separator.

Artist assigning the mesh and inks are the best way for any screen print shop. The trick is getting your artist to know what they do. Too many know Nothing about their inks and mesh.

We are similar to this practice, though some collaboration helps too.
