we just printed these last week. 'was very excited to be printing the simulated process on the hoodies (a little scared too!). It was the front, back and right sleeve. All sim process 4-6 colors.
On the front we printed over the pocket and right up to the zipper. It might be hard to see the pockets and zipper if the monitor is not adjusted very well. . .
very happy with how it came out! They printed very fast (about 300/hour when we were not goofing off). The transition is very clean. We had to glue the pockets in order to keep the registration, ran everything at 45lpi on 230 mesh to get thicker deposits. We also did not glue the plattens all the way to the top so were having a little bit of a registration issue until we figured it out. Otherwise, they came out pretty nice.

Very nice work--I love chirascuro. :) Did you build up your platens, use soft half squeegees, etc?
I usually pull out the spare exposure blanket material for that kind of thing--but no one makes me do anything too crazy over seams.

we ran 320 pieces so had to be able to keep it moving. We padded the plattens with material Rick Roth recommended (we paid him $100 about a year ago to get the info on how to print this stuff). We used regular squeegees, but I did go ahead and replaced all the dull blades and we used fresh tight screens (30N or more). The hoodies were 80/20 and rather thin. They printed as easy as the shirts with the only exception being that we had to clean the plattens about twice as often. We took a long time getting ready for this as we were not sure what to expect and it had to be right, but over all, it was really easy.

Are you kidding me!!?! I completely suck at hoodies. And over the pocket??!!
Like when learning to play an instrument, at some points along the way, being exposed to excellence just makes you not so sure whether you wanna go practice, or just stomp in your horn. (I always chose to go hit the practice room....)

I've always thought that on the music side too. Usually, after seeing one of the greats, I'd be practicing before I went to bed for the night...
Great print Pierre, as I would expect. So, if 100 of us get together and give you a dollar each, will you tell us what the padding is? Just kidding of course, it's more fun to figure out I've always felt... thanks for the other details though. Have a great weekend.

How did you glue the pockets? I often stress things like this as much of what we print needs to be "retail ready" out of the box. Looks like the case with this print as well.

we just used the spray tack! You are supposed to use starch mixed in with water, but we tried several with regular spray adhesive and it worked fine. It was tacky the first couple of times you put your hands in the pocket, but it lost the tack very quickly (as it does on the plattens!)

I just went through some cans of Camie 385 Web and that stuff is really gnarly, stays around and difficult to remove when it gets on garments. But I agree it beats messing up hoodies or having to clean and re-tack after only 2-3 loadings.
I have some Sprayway Web coming in, hoping it's a little milder.

it is NOT web spray, but rather regular mist tack. We had some left over from few years back and never did find good use for it. Well . . now it will come handy.

I know this is an old thread, but it totally KNOCKED ME OUT a year and a half ago! I printed the close-up sample and taped it on my sign easel, to remind me of how far I have to go.
Well fast forward to last week, when somebody up front sold a tall vertical spot color job that goes over the pockets of some of the smaller Zip Front Hoodies.
I use neoprene wet suit material (doubled) for over the pocket prints now, and it SORTA works. (I'm all manual.)
Are there any additional tips and tricks that any of you care to share? This is big blocks of color, not little dots like Pierre's example.
