got a question here, we've been doing embroidery just about all this week and I,m having problem's with thread fraying and the brand is maderia, our main thread is robinson-anton, but the customer likes a color that is made by maderia. What could be causing the thread to fray or could I have gotten a bad spool , but I will say all the years using RA we never had that problem that I can recall, can some of you that really do heavy orders in embroidery educate me here. :-[

I use Madeira exclusively. How is the humidity in the machine area? That
will be a factor and an invisible burr in a needle will cause it to happen
frequently. I used RA once and quit when I had to use a spot gun on an
oil stain. The thread color bled all over the nice white shirts. I just did a
sample run this morning with poly and rayon side by side. I had the rayon
fray up 3 times on a 10,000 stitch design. Polyester ran fine.

change your needles! Also if the thread is old it can do that.

I did change the needle and that seem to help, could have been a burr, but I've been using that needle before with no problems with other threads.
