I'm looking at printing some t-shirts with designs that I have created and then adding town or city name underneath to customize them a bit. Is that a copyright violation? I see lots of t-shirt designs in Wal-Mart and local t-shirt shops with the town or area on them. I know they can't all be approved by the locality.

I think that falls under public domain. Shouldn't be a problem.

name of the city is not protected. The skyline is ok as long as no building is more than 1/3rd of the image. Individual buildings can be copyright protected.
