Title: Shoe embroidery
Post by: Denis Kolar on May 06, 2011, 12:49:17 PM
I did my first embroidered shoe last night.
Need to play with setting a bit more but it looks promising.

Nice detail on the small text. Can you post a wide shot of the shoe to see the stitch in context? Would be cool to post a vid of the operation.

Here is the pic of the final sew. I'm having some issues with video uploading to YouTube, I will link that when I get it uploaded.

So many questions:
Can be done on leather or canvas?
Material thickness restrictions?
Can it only be done on that particular shoe location?
Shoe size (not design size) limitations?
High and low tops?
Are mis-sews a problem? Can they be re-stitched or does it scrap the shoe?
What do you estimate the biggest stitch count to be possible?
Multi-color design no problem?
Could you do the shoe tongue?

I have more questions but I'll get back to 'em.

Slow down  ::)

Which machine do you have?
You can embroider on almost anything you could clamp into the machine (I was told that the toughest thing to embroider is a Karate belt).
Shoes would not be an issue.
Multiple colors, yes.  Did I do it, No.
How many stitches, I do not know how much you can cram into 2x1 area?
Shoe size, as long you can clamp it
Miss-sew, I had to use Peggy's stitch eraser last night
Shoe tongue, Yes.
Material thickness, I still have to mess with my clamp, I need to bring it as down as possible to the sewing arm. Thickness should not be an issue. I had issues with this shoe when it would go from one material to a different one, you can see that it goes from suede to that puffy fabric.

Clamp is a home made :)

Bad English? It is better than mine :)
I use the clamp that I built myself and it needs a few more tweaks :)

You are having thread breaks because the shoe is further away from the "arm" than other things we embroider.
I have to figure out how to fix that.
