Title: Graphic requirements for CTS
Post by: Maxie on August 10, 2018, 07:33:26 PM
I am getting ready to take the plunge into CTS.
I know nothing about what is required from the graphics department.
We use mainly Corel but also Illustrator and Photoshop.
What do we have to do before sending the file to print on the CTS?
Also at what stage do you position the image, center, pocket etc?

I mainly use illustrator but occasionally photoshop.  I always start my file with a template with a page size of 16 x 20”.  If I’m printing a full front or back I place the image 2 inches down and centered.  If it’s a left or right left crest, I still place it 2 inches down but 3.5 inches left or right of center.  After I finish separating, I print sending it the I image.  That way it’s a postscript.  I open it from the computer on the CTS.  Congrats on the move.  You won’t look back.

We were provided with an Illustrator template. We save the files as an .eps. We set all the colors to spot colors.

Pretty straight forward, same as outputting for. A rip. If you buy new the tech will walk u through it. Save as eps with specific params.

The only difference is placing the art in the right place on screeen based on placements is now pushed back onto the separator / artist. Make sure they have templates and cheat sheets...
