Crimson?
I've always used cardinal red.. The reason I ask is I just landed a job for a school for the softball and football boosters. They said the softball is cardinal red and the football uses crimson... Now I'm wondering if there is indeed a difference...

Crimson (per University of Alabama guidelines) is Pantone 201.
Cardinal Red (per Union Ink) is Pantone 188.

get PMS numbers!

My sales lady carries a pantone book with her... (as well as our 'basic' color chart)
Helps a ton when dealing with clients.

Those names are subjective, like navy or royal. Must have PMS numbers, or they get what you call cardinal or crimson.

Yes the PMS way is the best.
Each school has a "color" and they don't know PMS of course.
We have used Wilflex Cardinal Red and I'm sure most of the deep reds
in consistency are like this- from another planet.

I called them and asked if they had specific pms colors... WUT? We like the color you showed us in the proofs you emailed us... Oh boy. :o.

Donnie being in the Alabama area and do a little printing for them we use Cardinal red (188c) from union Inks, I think they have a pm color for retail lines.

Careful on this one.
What they "see" on their monitor might not be the same as the real item printed.
