Title: Is anyone using Otto Thread
Post by: RICK STEFANICK on November 02, 2018, 09:45:45 PM
Otto caps sells a POLY thread they make and run in there production facilities. The cost is 4.50 a roll for the 5500 yard roll in standard colors and 20 bucks a roll for the metallics. That is a substantial savings vs. maderia. I am getting ready to place a large order one way or the other and just wanted to know if anyone is running it. Thanks in advance for any input...

I can't vouch for Otto, but I have tried the house brand stuff from Alpha. It never sewed right for us, huge headache. Remember different brands use different tensions so it may not be worth the gamble if you're already set up using Madeira. It's like ink, sure you can save a buck on cheaper ink but what is it really costing you in the end?....

Thread is such a small expense. Do the math. We are talking a savings of pennys per job. Buy the best proven thread you can.

I use Madeira Poly, but have switched my white to Otto. I like the color, sheen and how it runs!
I never did like the Madeira Poly white. It's too dull.
I have also filled in colors that Madeira lacks with Otto, RA and Gunold.
