Title: Metallic Swatches
Post by: ebscreen on February 20, 2014, 07:09:05 PM
Anybody have any good metallic swatches for Illustrator (or anything else, can probably convert?)

The Pantone metallics are just solid colors. Anything available online is usually just a gradient.
I'm looking for what screen printing shimmer ink looks like. A gold nugget up close?

Thanks.

While it's not terrifically convenient, if I needed to make something look metallic in illustrator, I would either find something printed with that ink and patch it together with photoshop or print a flood of it and take a decent picture. Then I would put the image behind a mask of what I plan to print.

There are plenty of shimmer and metallic swatches available at manufacturers websites. You're probably looking for shimmer if you need it for plastisol mock-ups.
I don't really have those. I use glitter swatches all the time though, like this.
