So we took 50 kids this year on the tree. Id like to encourage everyone to try to do something, even 1 kid is something. Personally know people who never had any Christmas without the Angel Tree stuff. So we try to do our part. Here is the first run. Got another one to go.

Awesome! Great work Brandt. 8)

Hey Brandt,
since you are already doing the work, if we got some money together on the forum, would you be willing to buy few more things?
This might be a good event for everybody here to chip in.

I would over all encourage for those to check locally for any way to help. BUT, if they dont have the time and just want to chuck some money at me ill be happy to do it. I can't get any more kids we took 50 of the last 100 (a few days ago which im sure are gone now), but we can always give these kids more stuff. These kids asked for some of the things that are just needed to live a normal life. Its moving when someones kid only asks for socks as a "wish".
Only trouble is we have a deadline of the 13th to drop them back off, so I have to finish the shopping and drop off by then.

we do it here aswell, been giving away bikes and new clothes for the last 10 years or so. It makes me feel good and helps my community, happy to do it every year.

Each year, the old lady and I do the Toys for Tots thing.
I get to get the ones that I would get if my son wasn't 31, and she gets to shop like for the daughter she never had.
That said, I still always try and buy the wife and my son some toys because it's Christmas dammit! It's time for toys, and we never completely lose our kid side (hopefully!)

Awesome stuff, glad you started this thread. I'm sure many of youalready do your part but I share in Brandt's recommendation and hope that those who haven't done anything yet to go out and make something happen. Every Halloween my wife and I put on a kid's costume party at the jump house (one of those places with the huge blowup bouncy things that kids go insane over) and all my son's friends and even people we don't know are invited and we turn the kids loose to play for a few hours. All we ask is that everyone brings toys or even gift cards that we in turn give to a local charity that helps out kids have as close to a normal Christmas as possible.
It hurts to see so many kids needing something simple like a pair of shoes that doesn't wear a hole in their foot. I know it sounds like a "give-up" to get a gift card but some of these kids have never gone into a toy store and shopped for a toy and those gift cards allow kids to experience something that most of us take for granted, just walking around a toy store knowing we can buy just about anything our child wants in there. I actually think the gift card idea is the easiest but can provide something special and allow for a huge variety of products to be purchased.
