As some of us know I jumped into the cloud in August.. I have used Freehand most of my adult life, from 1 to 11... I had to go to Illustrator to keep up.. I got by.. I bought CS5 and now Have CS7.. I recently signed up for monthly subscription to lynda.com for training videos, installed second monitor so I can do the exercises along with the training.. I would not know where to start to describe what I have learned int he last two weeks.. If had to pick one thing that stands out the most it is image trace and the training films... Knocked my socks off... and I had my shoes on.. watched it twice just to get it down pat.. Like I said, moving from Freehand to Illustrator and from XP to 7 Pro was big move for older person (who"?) but the power of Illustrator is making me a monster, and hopefully a better artist.. I will never me Dot Tone Dan but am sneaking up on him slowly...

that sounds very cool. I've heard few ppl mentioned Lynda as good source for training, glad to have it confirmed.
agreed, the vector engine in the new Illustrator is a beast. It saves a lot of headache.

I used a few lynda videos back in my web design days and they're always pretty solid. Glad to hear that they're helping getting better result in the Illustrator art realm! :)

If you want the technical understanding of the tools of both Photoshop and Illi, then Deke McClelland is the man, not how to, but why to, when to and with what to. Every tool technically explained in a fun and entertaining way. It just so happens he is on Lynda..
