Title: royal rally towels, white ink
Post by: Du Manchu on January 15, 2014, 10:30:04 PM
We have an opportunity to print 1000 ROYAL rally towels with WHITE ink, but I have a few questions first.  ???

*Can we P/F/P these successfully with plastisol?
*It looks like 85-110 is the ideal mesh with zero off contact is ideal.  Correct?

*Discharge?
We have yet to print DC,  but definitely looking for an opportunity to dive in.   Would this be a relatively easy entry, or full of complications?  I consider the project relatively low risk, as they are cheap,  and ultimately the towel will be tossed out.

We've got an older 48" Hix  with 12' of heat, with internal  fans that circulate air "somewhat".  I would assume we could fill the belt up and creap them through for a decent cure.

Any suggestions for the best way to approach this.

Many thanks.

your correct on the plastisol application.. I would base the ink down with chino base or a curable reducer.  like 40 percent..you will be able to and have to p/f/p but the results will be as good as you can get on a royal towel.  tony is a discharge expert and his assessment about the royal is right on. now, you could print a discharge base/white mix possibly with a overprint white plastisol possibly to improve the hand.

We have done this with some success with an 80/20 mix for the DC base.

If it were me, I would print them with straight waterbased white. As Pierre said, Royal is unlikely to discharge. That's a lot of pieces to roll the dice on. I would print a couple ink options and let your customer decide which they prefer; both look and feel.

you can always hit the towel with 20/80% white/discharge base and put a thin coat of plasti on the top
