...hey Gang! I often get MS word documents (usually with a list of names, as is the case here). I'm trying to figure out how to get this into X4 without re-typesetting the whole damn thing. The object imports an a "document object" but I don't really see how to manipulate from there. I tried copying in Word/pasting in X4, but no dice....still a document object that I cannot "convert-to-artistic-text".
Any tips, pointers? Is this just not gonna happen? Where is Diane/ColorYourWorld when we need her? Andy, do you know of a way I could take a dip in her well of knowledge?
...thanks err-body!!

She's a member here (CYW), and even checks in pretty often (or at least checks out the proceedings)
Send her a PM

You should be able to paste special which might bring in the list as paragraph text. Right click on the paragraph text and change it to artistic text. Oh yea make sure when pasting to not import formatting.

if its just a straight list, ie 1 column, save as Rich Text Format RTF or Plain Text, TXT. when in corel use typ tool to place your starting point (wherever) and then click on the Edit Text button (cntrl+ shift+ T), there you can import the TXT or RTF file and you will have a list. then you can change the font to whatever you want. Hope that wasn't confusing

Thanks for the vote of confidence but when it comes to anything WP related, I'm basically clueless.
Try this. It usually works well enough:
Select the text tool and draw a paragraph frame
With the text tool still selected , go to Import and select the MS Word import filter
If the document wasn't created in a newer version of Word, you should be fine
If not, do like I do and open that pesky MS file on an iPad and convert to PDF.
Works like a charm......thank goodness (sigh)

I made a bunch of bogus names in MS Word 2010 (about 100), clicked Ctrl + A to highlight all the text, selected 'copy', opened Corel X4 on a blank canvas. Selected Text tool and did paste. It came out all editable as if I typed it all out originally in Corel.
If you didn't get it working, shoot me the MS Document.
