Title: Make a Block out
Post by: rmonks on February 14, 2014, 08:54:20 AM
I had posted a situation a few weeks ago where a customer was wanting me to block out some text and print over it. My problem is making a block out pattern to fit over the text which I have attached. I have been trying this.... I make a rectangle, and use the envelope tool single arc mode, holding down control and arching the rectangle up to fit the curve of the text, BUT the ends are not square with the ends of the text and the curve is not matching. How do I do this. Many thanks

You can adjust the corners the same way as the middle using shift/control functions. But to be honest that block of text is not perfect so in this case I would just manually create the cover block. Better control less frustrating.

try the arch function instead of the arc.

Copy the design un group it all outline the words make the outline an object and fill the new object or just do your artwork as if you needed to print a solid under base

object
envelope distort (you have to have the object selected first)
make with warp
then use the drop down list

this is in illustrator, not sure if it's an option in Corel.

For something like this I would just pen tool a shape over it. Of make 2 circles and then divide and group. To get an arc to match up would take some time.

pen tool would definitely be the way to go here.

COREL?

Just drop a few nodes down with the bezier tool like when you redraw.  Set the nodes to Cusp.  Use the handles to make the object any shape/curve you want.  Delete any nodes you don't need once you get the shape close and color it in.
