Talk to me about what digital printers are great, and what i should avoid.
My local rep is talking to me about the Roland vs-300.
We are almost exclusively going to be printed die cut stickers on it. but i need the color to be super vibrent.
what other options are out there?

the printer is just a piece of the puzzle. the inks, color profiles, the rip, media and lamination all work together to achieve a great print....tech support and training will be the biggest selling point....brand doesn't matter as much as that other stuff.

Roland, Mimaki, Mutoh, HP
i would suggest printer and cutter separate. You will also need a laminator for decals.
30" is OK, but I would go as much as you can, 54 would be ideal.
I have bought used Mutoh 48" and new Graphtec cutter FC 860-130 (54").
Will be looking for new printer at the end of the year on next year.
Maybe I will go with HP, they do not have as many issues with the maintenance of the printheads. Every solvent printer needs to be printing every day, latex can be down for a few weeks with no problems.

what is the laminator used for?

To laminate prints/protect

We've had a Mutoh Valuejet 64 inch printer for 8 years. It prints fantastic prints. We've only had to replace the head once because of a head strike but other than that it's been great and a real money maker. If it ever goes out I'll be purchasing another as fast as possible.
