Title: epson 4880
Post by: Croft on March 16, 2014, 06:35:47 PM
I have found a lightly used 4880 , I'm on the fence whether to get it.
How are you using your 4880 , is there an all black set up for these or do you use just the 1 black cart. ? is it refillable.?.  I looked at Filmdirects site and it looks like they use 2 carts and a clear solution?
Also rolls or sheets? I'm using accurip for output.
Thanks for any help or opinions

We are using the photo black slot for black dye ink from Filmdirect and on all the other channels we use their cleaning solution. All their cartridges are refillable. As rip we have AccuRip, Wasatch and Filmmaker. Rollfilm from Chromaline. It`s a nice unit.

Same as Rockers.  We get film roles from  Inkjetfilm.net

how does the cleaning solution work? do you have to fill as often as the black?

Depends on really how often you initiate a cleaning cycle. But generally not. The cleaning solution just keeps the not used print heads nice and moist.
