Title: Graphtec CE5000-60 cut through problems
Post by: StuJohnston on May 02, 2014, 11:45:44 AM
Up till recently, I had been cutting with 15" vinyl, but recently I decided to try out the full 24" width of my machine. It cut well enough, but the center part cut through here and there. Is this normal? Seems like it will cause me to replace my cutting strips pretty frequently if it is.

Oh, and I was cutting Oracal 751, I can't recall the pressure though. I did use the test cut function until I got a clean cut.

We've had that problem with a Qvision Cutter.  If there is gunk under the cutting strip causing it to set higher in spots that can cause that to happen.  Atleast that's what I found in our case.

That makes sense, the strip is kind of goobered up from my early inexperienced experimentation.

make sure you use the right blade for cutting thicker material vs the 751. watch your pressure, you should never cut into the strip.
