Title: Compressor Problem
Post by: Logoman on June 01, 2014, 02:57:18 PM
I have a Quency Compressor that the finns on the motor are loose and will eventually wear a hole in the line. Any idea how to attach the fins back to the line? I am posting a pic to see.

Just leave them, it will be a looooooong time before they rub through the after cooler. Old 310? Just order a new after cooler it can be changed in about 20 min including pulling the flywheel, shouldn't be more then $100 or so. Might be a good time to service the whole thing including unloaded assm, unloader valve and  valve cartridges.

BTW that pipe the after cooler is on the low side between 40-50 psi, not full outlet pressure.

If you have not had it service in awhile I would do a full service sooner than later.

I have a horror story about one of these. I had an older one like that one for a long time, we wanted to get a new one so we didn't have it serviced when we should have ( key point ). Well the pressure release valve had got stuck or stopped working, so I heard noise coming from the compressor room one morning & I go to check it out, I open the door & this is the scary part.....( like an old Tom&Jerry cartoon ) bolts & nuts are shooting off it, the piston housing is off & I can see the pistons slamming up & down. I have to run in & shut off the main power, a bolt shoots off & smacks me in the head leaving a nice goose egg as I shut the thing off. The piston housing was 1" thick & had busted clean off, some of the bolts holding the cover still attached.

!! DO NOT LET YOU'RE COMPRESSOR GO UNSERVICED !!

if you're concerned, spray them with some lube ;)

Also, find a really good compressor service.  we use one and it's invaluable....they will spot things you will never see and help you keep running more efficiently.
