Well my "free" trial has expired on X6 and I got a message from corel to buy it for a redused rate so I did. Followed the instructions to uninstall x6 and reinstall and activate it. The problem is it wont let me activate it, says trial version is expired and boots me out basiilly. I've started a help desk ticket with Corel with no answer back. I was wondering if anyine here can and would help me out. Thanks in advance.

Once uninstalled reboot. Then install the new.

Ok that didn't work, any other ideas? I'm dead in the water...:(

Have you called Corel? It seems to me that when I had a problem once, I actually talked to someone.
-
not sure if this will help. I had an issue similar.
When installing and it ask you if you if you want to register with you serial code or if you want to continue with the install as a trial. I had to install as a trial because it kept saying my serial was no good. So id installed as a trial and when it opened up it say your trial is over please register. I think it also ask if you want to pull the serial from your corel account. this was the only way I got mine back up and running.
basically install agian as a trial version and input your serial code when you open corel after the install. you should be able to get to the screen for the product code even though it is a trial version.
hope it helps but may not.

Reset your clock to a year ago install it again see if it works not a great fix but might work while your waiting for tech support

So I've tried everything mentioned above, and I have finally got a response from Corel basically telling to do the same things that I have already tried several times now with no resolve. It seems the trial version was a boot leg and the serial number for the trial doesn't match the serial number that I bought the other day. Somewhere on my computer is a hidden file that has this false serial number stored and in which keeps the trial at 0 days and when I try to activate it I get the error code for invalid serial number. Is there some way to locate this file and delete it or do I need to do something drastic like restore my hard drive which I don't want to do? Any thoughts?

Wow, that's a new one.
Where did this "trial" version come from?
I do have to say that seeing that this was version X6 rather than X7 caught my eye. I figured that Corel would only have a trial of their current version available.
At any rate, perhaps someone on a Corel-specific forum can help.

Did they atleast tell you what type of file it is? Is it a .ini, .dll, config, registry. If you at least knew that then it would be much easier to root out.
-
Nope I just get a error code and the run around....

I'm a little surprised that the program cares about the old, expired, bad trial serial number if you have a new one, legitimate and paid for.
And, not that it would necessarily work, but what's so bad about restoring to just before you installed the bad trial?
-
A possible solution that does not require losing any data is if you still have the restore point saved for when you installed the trial version. If you can restore to then or any time before that it should wipe any program data related to it. You will not lose any files but you will have to reinstall anything installed from that period on.
-
I dont have a restore point that goes that far back.
-
After uninstalling did you manually search for any corel files and folders? Many files are left even after uninstalling.

NVM realized this was way old.

Then again, I don't know if he ever solved the problem. Good to see you btw! Now I have to read all of your new posts! (especially your answers to mine, LOL!)
