Can't drink enough coffee, good thing everyone else is motivated today lol :P

I feel you, I'm on about my 6th cup already. I helped my daughter move out this weekend so there wasn't much rest taking place. That and the fact it's Monday makes me have to kick my self in the A?? to get any thing accomplished.

Happy late Fathers Day to you. The training will be tomorrow. I'm excited. I have a couple of simulated jobs I'm wanting to try it out on.

Three words: Four Day Workweek
Four ten hour days. Get a three day weekend every weekend. Have been running my shop this way for over a year now, and have never looked back. My employees love it, they save on gas since they drive to the shop one day less a week, and they're the envy of everyone they know.
We run Tues-Fri, 8:00-6:30. This week we had some Wednesday deadlines so we came in today (Monday) and will take off Friday instead, giving us four days off next weekend. No complaints here. ;D
Try it, you might like it!

That's how I did it on St Thomas. Except I would come in half day on most Fridays to cover any emergencies. Lunch at Magens Bay once w week.

That would be great but we already run 3 of us at 12 hours a day mon through friday, and sometimes saturdays . We run a small staff for the work we do. It's hard to find motivated people in our area that can handle the heat of the shop and stay focused ect, so we put in the extra hours and geterdone.
-
Other industry we would run alternating weeks. You would work Monday-Thursday have Friday- Monday off then work Tuesday- Friday have Saturday & Sunday off, repeat. You still had every weekend off but every other was a four day weekend. There was ten of us in the department divided into two teams, we would work ten hour days, Mondays and Fridays would be half staffed. Actually found it to be more productive and found you could squeeze a few extra days off with out using up vacation.
Or better yet equal time two weeks on two weeks off working on the boats.
-
Brian that is interesting! We have an "extra" to us person that we have been kind of floating through out the week schedule wise, and using their floating schedule to give other people a day off during the week if they are already feeling burnt, it's helped with the employees, but when it comes to Niki and I, we aren't comfortable leaving the place to be on it's on just yet.

My partner and I could do that for our employees, but that would never happen for either of us. We do 11 - 12 a day, and another 6 at least on Saturday. Actually, we could work 12 a day easy and still be behind, never have we been as busy as right now.
Steve
had a girlfriend many years ago who did a 3 day, 3 12 hour days, but it was a gigantic company, I don't think us littler guys could get away with that...

Right there with ya Steve. Hey, I'm not complaining, better to be busy enough to be looking for a break rather than, too slow.
-
wait so you guys weren't printing on Saturday at 3am like us?
-
Four tens is probably the most productive way we have run. Can't do it anymore unfortunately.
Probably running 5 twelves just to get through this week. Ugh.
Two day weekends are straight up BS.

In a large enough shop, four ten hour days and a skeleton crew on the fifth and maybe Saturday is how we did it where I last worked.
