Long Story Short, Needed a big umbrella over my business, did not have one.
Dave gave us brand new Bimm Ridder boxes to haul things out of a sloppy wet business and than even printed shirts for us after hours on short notice.
WHAT AN AWESOME FRIEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's sweet to hear! It's pretty cool the people you meet and friendships that develop on the boards!
My favorite "of the boards" moment(feel free to censor this if need be Dottone) has to be when a group of us found out Dottonedan's wife(SUPER nice) refers to him as Daniel!!!! Couldn't wrap my head around who she was talking about for probably 3 hrs. ;D;D
Sorry that kind of derailed the topic (ADD and all). Never met Dave but we have threatened to visit each other. Dave- someday one of us will have to brave the hours of corn fields and make the trip!

Dave has done us a solid as well.
100% stand up dude!
If ever down on your luck my brother just give this board a holler and you will never notice the bad time because we will all have your back!
-
Agreed. He had to put up with me last Friday night!

You're all too kind. Flash back six years and two weeks. Epic floods in Cedar Rapids. Our entire shop was under six to eight feet of river water (and who knows what else). When we finally got in to start recovery, we had so many people there to help us. So many that the Red Cross came by to feed all the people. There were days I had to thanks people and send them away as I didn't have anything for them to do. Another print shop closed for a day and sent all their people to help us. I still tear up when I think and talk about the overwhelming support we got. Complete and total strangers coming by to help. Working in dangerous conditions. Imagine smooth red brick floors coated with mud and water. People tearing down equipment and hauling it out. Without all the help of friends, strangers, vendors, etc. I wouldn't be sitting here typing this right now. There's no way we could have done it alone. So if I can print a few shirts, offer some advice, make you a quart of ink, whatever....all I can say is pfffttt. You all don't know what getting help when you need is is really like. It's my turn to give.

Some guys pay it back after a tragedy, some pay it forward, Dave does both. I am very happy to call him and many on this board my friend.

Dave is a great guy, we've spoke on the phone and PM's and he's always been nothing but supportive of our business!
-
Might as well join the party..
I've only spoken with Dave once, but in that instance he went out of his way to help me out with some press maintenance advice via PM, and that definitely says a lot about his character. Two thumbs up.
-
Yup Dave is a great one. Most people on here are cut from a different shirt.
-
Yep Dave I remember those pic's you posted, I would have cried like a baby if that had been me, I don't know which is worse water or fire, this world is kind crazy right now flood's in one part of the country and heat waves in other parts.

Good man Dave! It's sad that we can't have open relationships with folks near us. It's insane the underhanded stuff people in our area do. We keep to ourselves. I really don't care what customers joe blow has as long as he does the best job he can for them and takes good care of them. But for some reason, everyone wants to know everyone's business and actively poaches. If a shop got in trouble, the rest would sit around and let him fall so that they could come in and eat the scraps, pretty sad. So it's AWESOME that Dave and his team did this for you!!!!

Same here in our town. Cant stand it. We go in to pick up shirts at Bodek and nobody wants to conversate but will look over your shoulder or at your boxes to see if they can catch a job name or something. Its really sad.

There is a shop a stones throw away from us and have asked them for supplies if we are in a bind and they do help but you can tell its not what they want to do. We would help anyone happily if it came down to it just wish everyone was like that.

we have a great relationship with a contract shop across the street from us. we've printed jobs for them when they are in a pinch and i send anything i have with more colors than i can handle over to them. we share tips, check out each others shops, etc. there are some things that we compete on, but would never go after each other. at least it seems that way for now, haha.
on the other hand, there is another shop down the street from us... i cant tell you how many times ive had a customer come in looking for a quote telling me that the guy from "the other shop" was bad mouthing us, telling them we are too expensive, yada yada. ive never even met the guy either!! i dont see how that is a good business practice at all. i look at it as a karma thing. sooner or later it will catch up, for the better or worse.

Talk about sad, there's one shop in our area that posts negative google reviews about other shops...
