-
BTW I hate you.
I am jealous as well.

Hadn't you just upgraded to a 5k or something?
-
Double door entry is what we ended up putting in the wall after cutting the big hole to get it in the imaging room ;D
-
Great time to put double swinging doors on.
-
Congrats man, that's an awesome addition.
-
i cut the wall out to fit the 7.5k Amergraph in there, and then turned around and did it again for the I-Image.

Yes indeed a very large congrats to you. I had to tear out a wall also but it was well worth it. You are going to love it. I've had mine about 3 weeks now and I'm already sure I could never go back to film.

Exposing screens all day today in 1.5 seconds with my new starlight and I-image. Here is the first job off the I-image, 8 color. Super easy! My life is changing! Thanks M&R.

Looks good brotha, told you that you were going to love getting that I-Image!!!
-
Mr Diggler
Was there a reason you went with separate units instead of the all in one starlight with lightbar?

More than one! The light bar is for PHOTOPOLYMERS. The starlight will expose anything FAST. Also, my route saved me about 30 grand.

I just received the email from M&R that my Starlight is CRATED, ready to ship. I can't wait to get my hands on it!

What`s the list price of the I-image these days?
-
I think a 2 head I-image st is $56k

Is the rip software only PC based?
The new machines are PC based for the RIP. This does not seem to be an issue with customers though. We have many art rooms on mac/mac servers with a slave PC running the software ripping with hot folders.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding the numerous ways to set up the work flow for the new i-Image ST/STE/STE II product line.

Is the rip software only PC based?
Im a mac guy for my design studio and I have an I-Image, the I-Image has it's own PC that comes with it, so I just output my print ready files using the PPD for Illustrator for the I-Image rip, drop those in a folder on server, open them directly from the pc on the I-Image and rock. It's not the same as outputting film at all, different mindset, even though some of the thought is similar, the environment created for the CTS is self contained. It's pretty awesome, There is no issue what so ever going from outputting art files from you mac to the I-Image rip on it's onboard computer at all.

I-image sitting in the new screen room! After 3 days of use, I can honestly say I WOULD NEVER GO BACK TO FILM!! Plain and simple. Some may try to argue this, and I know it has been said before, but I can't believe I didn't do it sooner! That much better, I invite ANYONE to my shop to see the difference if you don't believe it. And the Starlight...hands down my favorite new toy! I can fully expose ANY emulsion SUPER fast, the LED is a game changer even if you are using film. If you don't buy anything else in the next couple of years, buy an LED exposure unit and thank me later.

...I took Jason up on this just this last weekend, and took a road trip, along with another local shop owner here that I am good friends with, to see this in Jason's shop. The other guy was so impressed that he is doing the purchase paperwork now as we speak. Its THAT cool.
(You can just mail the commission to Jason and I, Rich...no hurry ;D ;D ;D ;D)
...the speed and accuracy of the Starlight has bought me SO much additional time, that I can now use printing, designing, selling or whatever I need to do. I burn screens for the week in less than an hour now. In fact, I did 27 today, took longer to attach films than it did to burn and develop. It really is amazing technology.
...BTW Jason, thanks so much again for having us, as well as the goodies you hooked us up with. Your shop is KILLER. I-Image, CH3D, plenty of space, super-clean...Colin and I are both inspired again. Hope to return the favor again somehow!!
-
thanks Sean, I appreciate the compliments! It was a pleasure to have you.
-
Man that is a beautiful machine. Makes me want to toss a screen on my DTG printer to see what happens.

Kiwo Discharge Photopolymer
Nice. Have you had good results on long run discharge jobs with screens staying strong? I have been asked a few times in regards to LED and fast burn times but haven't had much feedback 1000+ Piece runs.

Even though its called DISCHARGE, I only use it for plastisol, I use something different for discharge.

Make sure at install they make the adjustments to print pockets, if not you will be pulling your hair out later. Also, we have done all the work on a badass art board for Illustrator that you will definitely need. I will send you ours for FREE!

honestly we are a bunch of dummies over here, and it took us a day to get it figured out on the STE 2. maybe two days for different placements. but it is really easy.

Super excited..!

this thing takes a TON of room, hope you have double doors to where its gonna live.

It will be in our warehouse. Just no room inside our offices. At some point we will build a dedicated room for screen production.
-
I was shocked at how big it is. The flow of our screen room blows right now...eventually I'll figure something out.
-
Definitely a big congrats Graphic.
-
Shall I update my profile to Bottom Feeder with DTS now then? LOL
-
I didn't have the means to pull the trigger on a DTS but we've had our Starlight for 2 weeks now and we absolutely love it. Definitely a game changer.

I already know! We went from 4 minutes on our old Lawson unit to 24 seconds. (180 Mesh, 2/2 coat, Imagemate 343 Dual Cure).
We've been testing CCI VPR emulsion on it this week. 6 seconds!

Give me more details on the VPR on the starlight. I have a sample but haven't opened it. Coating method, time for discharge screens, time for plastisol. Let me know, I want to open my sample. thanks.

We are just going through our sample today. So far we have only been doing 50pc. runs today with it; only about 6 screens so far.
2/2 on 180 mesh. Using a Saati exposure calculator film, we got 8 solid blocks at 6 seconds and 7 solid blocks at 4 seconds.
We ran 50pcs., 2 color discharge with the 6 second burns, no issues. The 4 second burn was 50pcs. plastisol. No issues.
